The government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh passed the People's Prevention Act, 2009 as the law of the people's rights in the Parliament of Bangladesh. A privilege program of the government to protect consumer rights under this Act.
Under the law, the National Consumer Rights Protection Department was established as a quasi judiciary or semi-judicial body in 2009. The Department of Consumer Rights Protection plays an important role in implementing this law at the field level. This office has always been in the forefront to ensure transparency and accountability as a publicly-funded institution.
 Since its inception, this Department has been conducting regular market monitoring activities to prevent and prevent anti-consumer activities. Through this program, the anti-consumer activities and anti-crime programs have been playing an important role in the protection of public health by preventing adulteration in addition to increasing public awareness. Consumers who have cheated for buying a product or service can file a complaint under this section under section 76 (1) of the Act. If the offense is proved on the basis of the complaint, 25 percent of the fine collected in the administrative system is provided to the complainant immediately.
As a people-friendly organization, the department has always been working hard to ensure transparency and accountability along with providing services to people with speed. The Department has been conducting market monitoring activities under the Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009 to prevent anti-consumer activities. In order to create mass awareness about the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009, posters, leaflets and pamphlets distributed in district, upazila and union, arranged multiple seminars and organized rally at union level. Every year on March 15, the World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated with due dignity. In order to increase awareness and ensure transparency, regular public and public exchange meetings are organized with consumers and traders.
One of the main goals of the present government is to reach the doorstep of the people easily. For this purpose, complaints are being taken by the Directorate through online / mobile SMS / Facebook. Complainant can file a complaint easily by filing a form through www.dncrp.gov.bd or through the website / facebook / dncrp. Please note that the complaint has to be filed within 30 days of the emergence.
